Here's some shots of Penrhyn in the early 90's. She was built in 1968, Hull #23. I found her in Marina Del Ray and sailed her home to Ventura to begin a new phase of her caretaking. The port house planks needed a reglueing so I removed all the stops and glass and ports. Stripped all the mahogany inside and out, removed all the fiddle. Re-surfaced all counter tops - replaced all counter tops - replaced all glass with green UV tint safety glass. LP'd the deck and re-sanded with silica. LP'd the original mast and boom and reconditioned the roller boom reefing which worked great! The hull took about 3 days of sessions on the buffer with compound to bring back the original gel coat! A lovely boat to live work and sail on! Currently looking to buy another one. Barbara Martindale |
