THE 15TH ANNUAL SAN DIEGO WOODEN BOAT FESTIVAL!
This year on June 18th and 19th (Saturday and Sunday) will bring the Wooden Boat Festival sponsored by Koehler Kraft on Shelter Island in San Diego. Koehler Kraft is THE "Wooden Boat Yard" in the south and there are 9-10 old woodies at the yard on the cradles undergoing restoration. Vessels for viewing will include power boats as well as sail. Many of these yachts are award winners from other clubs, regattas or shows. Saturday evening (at the awards ceremony) the Sea Scouts will offer a GREAT chicken, steak or salad dinner. The scouts will also serve breakfast and lunch at their galley on both days. The event will offer seminars, raffles, a boat auction, trade vendors, free steam boat rides and, of course, the opportunity to see many lovely wooden boats. The local Scuz Bums will have many home built vessels on the hard. Other groups with informational booths include the San Diego Ancient Mariners Sailing Society, The San Diego Maritime Museum, The Wooden Yacht Fleet and more. This very popular event is a great one to see. Our San Diego weather ALWAYS proves to be perfect for the WBF and the show is always a success. Please join us if you can. Proceeds from the gate and concessions go to the Sea Scouts (Ship # 296) group headed up by Charlie Rogers. Ship 294 was founded in 1927.
C.F. Koehler and his crew will be on hand to answer questions as will countless numbers of friends and volunteers. PLEASE JOIN US!!!!
