> Greetings to current and former Kettenburg PCC owners, and friends:
>
> WHAT'S NEW:
>
> "Building Kettenburgs: Premier Boats Built and Designed in San Diego".
>
> The book signing/book launch was held December 17th at the Maritime Museum
> of San Diego on BERKELEY, the restored Ferry Boat. The event was very
> successful, with approximately 150 people attending, and over 200 books
> being sold. Some of the people attending the event in addition to the
> author Mark Allen were Ray Ashley, MMSD-President & CEO, Bill Kettenburg,
> Tom Kettenburg, Morgan and Jean (Kettenburg) Miller (KBW Partner), Bud
> Caldwell (long time KBW Supervisor),  Steve Barber (Kettenburg Boat Owners
> Association web site), Trice Kilroy (KIALOA), Jean Alexander (LARK, PCC
> #16), and myself (EULALIE, PCC #1). Charlie Underwood Jr.Õs son and his
> sister also attended on his behalf.
>
> This book is a "must have" for any Kettenburg boat owner. It is a very
> high quality "coffee table" style book, much like Olin Stevens' book. The
> book is being sold for $50. You can purchase the book from the Maritime
> Museum of San Diego at www.sdmaritime.com, or by calling 619-234-9153, or
> from the Mystic Seaport Museum at www.mysticseaport.org, or by calling

> CURRENT EVENTS:
>
> Another PCC has been lost. As earlier reported, Alexander Libbrecht bought
> KACHINA, PCC #23 from Joshua Berglund in San Francisco last September.
> Since then, Alex single handed KACHINA to Hawaii. Alex contacted Jean
> Alexander on December 17th by e-mail to say that he had wrecked KACHINA in
> Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii after the engine failed.
>
> This makes the second PCC lost in 2008. As earlier reported, Jules Doyle
> cut up MALAGUENA, PCC #18 earlier in 2008. Parts and equipment from both
> of these boats are listed in the Gear For Sale section below.
>
> For all practical purposes, CYANE, PCC #17 was lost in October 2007 when
> the jack stands Les was using collapsed. The original owner of CYANE was
> Henry B. duPont. The boat is currently located in NE Maine. I have been to
> Maine to see CYANE since the accident. Any restoration would need to be
> from the keel up. Anyone interested can contact me for more details at:
> (206) 437-6290 or [email protected]

> RACING EVENTS:
>
> The Kettenburg Regatta is being held June 8th in San Diego. This event
> will be hosted by the Ancient Mariners Sailing Society, and the
> Southwestern Yacht Club. The PCCYRA will arrange to include the 2009 PCC
> Nationals with this event, if enough owners enter.
>
> The Jessica Cup is being held this October in San Francisco. This event is
> hosted by the St. Francis Yacht Club, and the Master Mariners Benevolent
> Society. The PCCYRA will arrange to include the 2009 PCC Nationals with
> this event, if it isn't held in San Diego, and if enough owners enter.
>
> The 6 Meter Worlds, 8 Meter Worlds, and 12 Meter Worlds are being held in
> Newport, RI this September. To my knowledge, these three events have never
> been held together in the same year, and the same location, let alone the
> same month in the United States. It is even more rare for the 8 Meters to
> hold a regatta outside of Europe. If you plan to go to Newport for any of
> these regattas, make reservations early. This is a once in a life time
> opportunity to see these beautifully restored classic yachts racing in a
> "full on" regatta at the "home" of the America's Cup. See you there.

> Until next time, sail on................
