A marinized Chevy 350 is available in exchange for the Yanmar now fitted. The asking price is now $28,500 and climbing as work progresses.
This is a rare 30' power boat.
Hull is sound and was refastened in 1984 with stainless fasteners. We pulled a few when she was out of the water this summer and found them to be in excellent shape. It is fitted with a Yanmar 30 horsepower diesel engine. Beam is 8'6" and drafts 2'6".
Originally called the "Foggy III"; currently "Marlin". This vessel was constructed by the Kettenburg brothers in San Diego prior to their business incorporation.
Chuck Driscoll has surveyed this vessel for many years.
You can own this choice bit of San Diego history that not only turns heads but runs reliably, has running lights that work, and equipped with ground tackle . Read on. One of a kind, literally, outstanding in every way. Powered by a Yanmar 3HM diesel engine and 120 gallons of fuel distributed evenly both port and starboard, she could make Cabo San Lucas non stop at a consistent 7 knots, probably at around 20+ with the 350 installed. Perfect for weekends at Catalina.
This renovation project is one that WoodenBoat should feature. The planeing hull was rebuilt in 84' i.e. refastened with stainless screws, caulked up tight, bottom taken to bare wood & repainted as well as topsides, converted to diesel, engine new then as well. In November of 2003 she received all new cabin sides, toe rails, rub rails , cabin roof and deck covering. She is completely clear of any rot! She's always had a diver so she's clean below, and the keel is as straight as an arrow, made of clear vertical grade Doug fir. The bilge is sweet, no oil slick down there. The vessel is complete no missing parts, right down to the bell. Only the serious need apply, please!. Mahogany over oak frames, carvel planked, plumb stem, noble shaft 1" 3/8 and running gear. Believed to have been originally fitted with a Royal Crown Chrysler, this boat is a fisher's dream come true.
